A housing task force was created at the May 2 Willmar City Council meeting. A group of 15 to 16 people is expected to work for three months, or even less, and report back to the city and other partners trying to promote the availability of more housing. Although more apartment complexes are under construction, single-family housing has been identified as a particular need.

NEW LONDON — Ground was broken Wednesday for a $17.5 million senior living complex in New London.
Called Bethesda North Pointe, the campus will be located on 11 acres of land on the east side of state Highway 23 near the Carris Health clinic.
It will include 75 apartments — for independent living and various stages of assisted living and memory care — along with a chapel, fitness center and unique dining options.
It’s expected to be open by the spring of 2021 and will employ about 60
WILLMAR — On Sept. 1, as a construction crew led by Project One Construction moves out, dozens of families will start the process of moving into their new homes in 15th Street Flats, the first multi-family housing project to be completed in Willmar in several years.
Construction on the building, located at 1601 15th St. S.E., began in September 2018 and the Kandiyohi County Housing and Redevelopment Authority in May started accepting applications for the available units.
