The owner, Travis Johnson, has owned and operated the business for the last five years, but it has been in operation since the 1990s and is a staple of Regal's business🏪. Having grown up on a farm, Johnson is a self-taught mechanic🧑🔧. Regal Starter & Generator focuses on alternator and starter repairs🔩, attracting both farmers and repair shops from more than a 50-mile radius. KCED's Interim Executive Director and Business Development Manager Michelle Marotzke presented at EDAM's 2025 Winter Conference today. The topic was Lifting Up Entrepreneurs through Education and Networking. She highlighted the work KCED does with the Elevate Community Business Academy and how we have helped over 100 (!!) rural entrepreneurs start or grow their business. Programs like this are only successful with amazing partners, including Southwest Initiative Foundation, Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development and Rising Tide Capital. We have an amazing local community of partners as well and appreciate every single one! The Spring cohort starts soon. 🔊 This week's business highlight is 🍡 Tentaciones Restaurant and Food Truck 🚚, located in Willmar! Owner, María Ochoa, runs this festive and colorful restaurant with her family. Her son loves to cook 👨🏽🍳and is a catalyst for starting the business. Serving traditional 🌮 Latino foods like hotdogs and hamburgers🍔, anyone unfamiliar with these will be in for a surprise! The ten-foot hotdog 🌭 treat can be served with homemade salsa white-sauce and pineapple🍍or with crunchy potato fries on top. A full corn on the cob🌽 is grilled with mayo, salsa, cheese, chili and taquin! Tacos🌯 and empanadas 🌮 are made with abellia (shredded, roast slow cooked in a special sauce), Al pastor (a special cut meat that is thin and grilled) AND specialty foods from María's home country of Columbia including Chinese rice served with roots, chicken, beef or shrimp, and vegetables🌶️ or a special treat that includes banana🍌, chicken🍗 and cheese.
