WILLMAR—Ridgewater College has added a fifth course of study to its Transfer Pathway program.

Law enforcement students at Ridgewater will now be able to earn an associate degree and use Transfer Pathway to enter a four-year program in the Minnesota State system, according to a news release from the college.

Law Enforcement is the newest Transfer Pathway program available to students at Ridgewater College. The program helps ease the way for students who plan to transfer to four-year programs.

Minnesota State has worked for several years to improve students’ ability to transfer within the system of public colleges, according to the release. It started with guaranteeing transfers from community colleges to universities in the system, given a minimum 2.0 GPA in the transfer curriculum.

Transfer Pathway started last year and is another step toward the seamless transfer to earn four-year degrees. It allows students to choose courses with a focus on their major and earn an associate degree. Their coursework will transfer as a package to the new school, allowing students to enter the four-year school as juniors.

Other Pathway programs at Ridgewater are business, communications, English and psychology. The school is working on adding more majors to the list.
