City of Blomkest
Blomkest is located in southwest Kandiyohi County and Blomkest also has a strong connection to the farming community which shines through in its hometown values and hardworking community. It was established when the Luce Line Railroad came through Kandiyohi County. The town was originally named Kester, then Kesterville, after C.E. Kester, a relative of the railroad owner. In 1928, the town was named Blomkest using the first syllables of Blomquist and Kester, after Ole Blomquist, who filed a plat with the County for the original 12 blocks of the new town (Kandiyohi County Historical Society).
