Healthcare

As a regional medical center, Kandiyohi County has state-of-the-art facilities and hundreds of medical providers who provide outstanding care.

Rice Memorial Hospital is a Level 3 Trauma Center and is the largest community-owned hospital in Minnesota. Rice serves 14 counties, has 100 inpatient beds and employs more than 900 people. It is home to the Willmar Regional Cancer Center, Suite Beginnings private birth suites and Therapy Suites at Rice Care Center, a short-stay rehabilitation facility.  Rice also works with local schools to provide ImPACT concussion testing for student athletes, along with dozens of other community wellness programs.  Funding for many of these programs has been provided by the Rice Health Foundation, the hospital’s philanthropic organization. The Foundation raises millions of dollars for cutting-edge healthcare.

Kandiyohi County has hundreds of medical providers at dozens of clinics. Affiliated Community Medical Centers is a multi-specialty clinic with more than 40 specialty departments and offices in 11 area communities. Family Practice Medical Center in Willmar is a multi-physician clinic that provides a variety of services for the whole family. Numerous independent clinics ranging from allergy and asthma to ear, nose and throat, to holistic medicine also call Kandiyohi County home. The Fischer Laser Eye Center provides comprehensive family eye care, including LASEK eye correction and laser cataract surgery. Dozens of dental clinics in the area provide family care, as well as orthodontic treatment and surgical dental procedures.

Dr. Abraham Heschel once said, “The test of a people is how it behaves toward the old.” Kandiyohi County passes that test with flying colors with huge investments in facilities for the aging population. Rice Care Center just completed an $11 million renovation on its long- and short-term stay facilities. Bethesda, a facility that provides a full range of living options from assisted living through full-time nursing care, is in the midst of a $21 million project to build new facilities on its Willmar campus.

From the beginning of your life through your golden years, Kandiyohi County has healthcare options for almost every circumstance. For a link to area providers, click here.
