Retail is the third largest industry in Kandiyohi County with more than 220 business establishments providing nearly 3,000 jobs. Gross retail sales in the county top $770 million every year according to the latest US Census Bureau data. A mix of local businesses, chain retailers like Herberger’s and JCPenney, big box stores including Wal-Mart and Target and numerous auto and boat dealerships make Kandiyohi County an attractive regional shopping destination.
Nearly $46 million is pumped into Kandiyohi County’s economy through the restaurant industry each year. Eating out is big business and Kandiyohi County has a restaurant to satisfy any craving. Locally-owned restaurants, breweries and wineries thrive alongside national chains.
